"I won't shoot you," she promised, shuddering a little as she heard his voice getting a little closer. She eased around the wall, her own hands held out to her sides to show she was unarmed.
For a long minute, she just stared at him, unable to really believe she was seeing another living, breathing human being.
Or a reasonable facsimile.
She swallowed hard, suddenly at a loss for words, because somehow explaining she'd come here looking for a weapon seemed ... bad, or awkward, at this point in time. She almost asked if he was from around here, then reasoned not, if he was lost, too, so she simply stood there, silent and staring.
