Who: Jackie and OPEN When: Week 2, Tuesday evening Where: On the streets, on the outskirts of Chicago. What: Travelling from the outskirts into the city for supplies.
Jackie had woken with a headache. Sleeping with a rock for a pillow would do that to you. Her neck was stiff, no matter how many times she cranked her head from side to side. Granted Jackie had covered that rock with a jacket (a leather jacket), but that was about as helpful as dressing an iron spike with a sponge. Just didn’t hack it. So after trying to get a “good nights rest”, Jackie was planning on setting out and finally getting some supplies from within the city. It probably would have been easier if she had found some abandoned car to sleep in, and then use to get her into the city, but that put her on the radar, especially while out in the country. She was planning on sleeping in the city, however, and a car would be easier to break into there for the night.
She’d slept in her clothes, but opted to change out of them in the morning for clean ones in her bag. Jackie kept the same old jeans on, but put on a white t-shirt over her bra, and then a red zip-up hoodie over that. On top of that went her jacket, and with everything she owned (small as that was) inside her pack again, she was off. The little camp she’d used to sleep in for the night was destroyed, so that any tracking made on her would be made impossible. Jackie didn’t need—or want—anyone catching her by surprise because she’d been too stupid to cover her tracks. She’d been trained to keep herself alive, and that was what Jackie was best at. Staying alive.
The dawn was still breaking; a faint light on the horizon, while the world still remained dulled by a shade of grey. It made for a simple, but unnecessary cover, while the population of the area was next to nil. Things were quiet, and only the faint sound of squawking birds or howling animals could be heard off in the distance behind her. She liked the quiet—revelled in it. She blended into her surroundings, and hoped in her ability to be almost invisible. With enhanced senses, however; she was probably the first one able to spot someone coming up on her. It made her confident. Perhaps too much.
