Liz and Sparky had given Chase an idea. What if there were more people huddled up in the local malls and such, waiting for contact? Just a bad shot of fate and a little fear making them unable to find eachother? Determined to make certain that they weren't the only survivors, Chase told Sparky and Liz that she was going to check out the mall across town and see if she could find something. Supplies if nothing else.
"Knock knock," She whispered as she walked inside the deserted mall quietly. So much that no one would hear her. Then she tapped into another meta ability she needed. Hearing.
Blocking out all her other senses, she listened for anyone inside of the mall. She heard the buzzing and ticking of deserted machines and such, but that wasn't what got her attention. The slurping sound from the next floor up and the accompanying sigh.
To her knowledge? Zombies didn't slurp. And if they did? Well Chase wanted to see for herself what she was dealing with. Racing up the steps and waiting on the side of the wall, she peeked her head around the corner, preparing herself for something less than human.
Instead, she saw something less grown. Exhaling a little, but feeling the sting of sadness for the kid, she said quietly, making sure not to scare him, "Hey there kiddo."
She stepped into full view and said, "You're not here all by yourself ar you?"
