The Basics
Name: Lena
Age: 36
Did one of our members refer you? If not, how did you find out about Hogwarts Rising? Haha. Does not apply.
General Personality In your opinion, what are your top five positive characteristics? Why? 1. Intelligence. I'm smart. That sounds pretty egotistical, but it's true. I have a lot of common sense, I know where to find the answer in the event that I don't know something and I have a good aptitude for learning new things and usually for learning them quickly. In your opinion, what are your top five negative characteristics? Why? 1. Lazy. I'll bust my ass when I have to, but I'd really generally rather laze around and if I can get something without putting much effort into it, that's what I'm going to do. If I had my way, I'd be miraculously rich so I could sit around and RP/read/play on the internet all day rather than having to bust my ass for a paycheck that never seems to be quite large enough. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would you change? Why? Either/Or - Choose one or the other. Explanations not required, but welcome. Make plans of be spontaneous? Make plans. I do much better with structure than with surprises. If you were forced to choose, would you allow fifty strangers to die in the place of one of your loved ones? Explain. This is going to sound horrible, but I think I would. Fifty strangers dying would affect me a lot less than losing one of my loved ones would. I'd feel sorry for their friends and family, of course, but I'm selfish enough that I would ultimately choose my loved one over them. The Harry Potter Books Who is your favorite character in the Harry Potter series? Why? I really cannot answer this question, because I have SO many favorites. Percy, Ron, Ginny, Hermione, Luna, Neville, the Weasley twins, Remus, Sirius, the list goes on and on. I love that so many of the characters in the series are flawed and multi-layered. You don't love them all the time. Sometimes you want to scream at them or reach through the books and slap them. At the same time, you become ridiculously invested in them, in how they will turn out and whether they'll survive. Who is your least favorite character in the Harry Potter series? Why? This one is easier to answer. I've never really liked Draco Malfoy, not even after the sixth book. To me he always seemed like this one-dimensional bully with no redeeming character traits. Granted, we're seeing him through Harry's eyes, but I never found myself remotely caring about his fate through the series. I know a lot of people found him more likable after HBP, but I wasn't one of those people. I was like "nope, he still sucks." If you went to school at Hogwarts, what canon character(s) would you be friends with? What canon character(s) would you not get along with. Explain. I think I'd be friendly with Ginny and Hermione, easily. Ginny, because she has that fun side and I would need someone to draw me out and make me do something fun now and then. Hermione, because I think we're similar in a lot of ways and we could nerd it up over books. And the Weasley twins, too, of course, because they're hilarious. How could you not have a great time with them? If you had been given the Marauders Map so you could sneak out of the castle, what would you have done with it? Explain. Do I have an invisibility cloak, too? Because I'd definitely want to use it to explore, but I wouldn't want to chance getting caught and getting into trouble. If someone gave you enough Felix Felicis to last you one day, how would you spend that day? Exploring the area with my Marauders Map, of course! Or maybe venturing into the Forbidden Forest. It would be great to explore someplace off limits and dangerous like that with the knowledge that I wouldn't be harmed. Any other time, I'd probably be too scared to do it, but Felicis would give me some awesome courage, I'd imagine. What would amortentia smell like to you? Explain. Blueberry pancakes and coffee. It's the ultimate breakfast. :) If you were given a time turner, what would you do with it? Explain. I don't know that I would actually use it, to be honest. Aside from the fact that you aren't supposed use a time turner to change past events, because something really catastrophic could happen, there's not a single thing in my past I would change. Everything - even my mistakes - have led me to where I am today. Changing one little thing, even just going back to observe, could drastically alter that. What would you see in the Mirror of Erised? Do you see this coming to pass? Explain. Myself graduating college. This is one accomplishment that I haven't achieved and would really like to someday, however improbable. I don't need my degree for the career I'm in now, but I would love to be able to say that I did it. If you were faced with a boggart, what would it turn into? Why? This is going to sound really lame, but it would be my cat either seriously hurt or dead. For one, Narcissa is pretty much my constant companion. More to the point, though, when I was living in Los Angeles, my roommate had two cats that died during the time we lived together and that experience is something I have never been able to get out of my head. I've lost pets before, but those instances are the first time I can remember actually seeing a pet dead (and I adored them even though they were technically hers). Imagining something like that happening to Narcissa freaks me out. I've actually had nightmares about it and for several weeks or months after the last one passed, I'd wake up and immediately have to check to make sure it was only a dream and that she was okay. It really doesn't help that she's part ragdoll and often goes completely limp while she sleeps. My cat "plays dead" far too well. If money was no object and you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? I have always wanted to see Europe and really specifically, I would love to go to Germany. My little sister and I researched our ancestry a few years back and were fascinated by the German on our maternal grandfathers side. I would love to explore that ancestry a little further and spend a little time in the country those ancestors came from. I wouldn't stick with just Germany, though. If I had the time and money to do so, I'd go tour as much of Europe as I could in a heartbeat. Defining House Traits In your own words, define the following: Courage:Being able to overcome your inner doubts and fears and do what needs to be done. Knowing there are risks and being willing to take them. To quote on of my favorite movies, "because if you haven't tried, you haven't lived." Which house do you feel you belong in the least? Explain. (This is not an invitation to bash the various Hogwarts houses.) Hufflepuff. While I do have some traits that could come off as very Puff, I think the manifest in very non Puff ways. My loyalty is extremely selective. My willingness to work hard is only toward a specific end, whether it's trying to look good at work or knowing I'm going to get something out of it. I value honesty, but only from other people; if I'm being honest here, I lie fairly often and rarely feel guilty for doing so. |
