What if Harry was so very wrong about the Yew Wand, what if the wand that was conceived with evil intentions, and had killed countless people over the centuries was more than willing to turn on its master, to pass hands to a more like minded master? Join Lost in the Shadows and find out.
Lost in the Shadows is an AU role play, that picks up where The Deathly Hallows left off. In the game the Battle of Hogwarts went quite a bit differently. Harry's theory about the nature of the Yew wand was wrong, resulting in his death at the hands of Lord Voldemort. Though this was enough to pass true ownership of the wand to Lord Voldemort, this however did not ease Harry's parting words to Voldemort, what if Draco really was still the true owner? He decided the Malfoy child must die, so no more mistakes would be made.
Fearing for there son's life, the Malfoy's went into hiding. As the only reason they joined up with the Death Eaters in the first place was the preservation of their family, it no longer fit its purpose. Reluctantly the Order offered protection to the Malfoys, in hopes that perhaps there was something about Draco that could help to neutralize Voldemort's new weapon. The Order, who after the events of the Battle of Hogwarts, was reduced to the remaining Weaslys, Hermione Granger, and Kingsley Shacklebolt. Desperately the Order needed to recruit new members. Neville Longbottom, and Luna Lovegood were the first two to join, in admiration of their bravery, many of the other members of the DA joined as well. Minerva McGonagall, Horace Slughorn, and Flickwick were quick to volunteer as well, but were turned down, as the Order thought since they were not being removed from their posts at Hogwarts, they would be better use on the inside, to help the students.
During the summer after the Battle of Hogwarts, everyone expected another battle, or for horrible changes to start, but to their surprise nothing happened, life continued as normal, or as normal as it could. The second week of July, The Daily Prophet finally had something to report....
Lord Voldemort, the new Minister of Magic, announced today that Hogwarts will reopen in September, as normal. However there are some changes. First, as the former Headmaster Severus Snape died during the conflict at the school last spring, Transfiguration Professor Minerva McGonagall has been offered the position as Headmistress, we have not received word yet, as to if she has accepted. Also, Bellatrix Lestrange is the new defense professor. Second The Houses are no longer sorted by the decision of the entity known as the Sorting Hat. Instead, Purebloods will now all be in Ravenclaw, Half-bloods will all be in Hufflepuff, and MuggleBorns will all be in Gryfindor. Slytherin House will be reserved for those students whom the staff feels to be advanced in their studies.
The Ministry has determined that though it may seem unfair, blood status do play an important role in the educational process. Students who grew up in Wizarding households, and communities have an advantage over those who did not. Therefore by separating by blood status courses may be altered to best suit each group. All school activities will continue as normal, including Quidditch, and Hogsmead weekends.
A few changes to the curriculum has been made. The class formerly known as Defense Against the Dark Arts, will now be Defensive Magic. Students need to learn to defend themselves against all unfriendly magic, not just that which falls under the 'Dark Arts' category. On that note, Charms will now include Dark Arts in its studies, like it or not, students need to learn about it first hand. Due to the constant disruptions in the educational process last year, all students will repeat the year. We apologize for the inconvenience of this, but feel it is best to take the extra time to ensure that students receive the best education we can provide. Finally seventh year, will now be strictly a training year. Seventh year students will be informed in their school letter, the name of a professional whom they have been assigned to. The student will work with their mentor over the course of the year, to get a hands on feel of practical uses of what they have learned over the last six years, in a work, and everyday environment.
The School year will begin on Sept. 1st, the Hogwarts Express will leave from Platform 9 and three-quarters at 9 'o'clock sharp. Special arrangements to apperate or floo to the school can be main upon contacting the Ministry of Magic. Letters will yearly supply lists will be sent out by owl on August 15th.
Is this show of good will by the Dark Lord legitimate, since he no longer needs to fear the Boy Who Lived, or is there something much more sinister in the works? Join Lost in the Shadows to find out.
