WHO: Marietta Edgecombe and Seamus Finnigan and OPEN WHAT: Marietta lets her hair down for once (AKA Marietta just wants to get to the bottom of a few issues) WHEN: Sunday night, 7 September 2004 WHERE: The Golden Hound RATING: TBD STATUS: OPEN; InComplete
Marietta's last conversation with Seamus Finnigan had been anything but productive, and wasting her time frustrated her more than anything else. She didn't care what people did in their personal time, she surely didn't care for the judgment of others regarding what she did with her time, but Finnigan and Penny were involved in some way, and it gave Marietta cause for curiosity. Despite the warning she'd received from both Penny and Finnigan, Marietta was too stubborn to abandon her interest in the issue; if anything, their pair's mutual desire to steer Marietta out of their business had only served to compel her to further investigate their relationship. What were they hiding?
She'd read over the pair's journal discussions throughout the weekend-- a girl had to have something to do to distract her from the slow-moving Addison case-- but it was almost impossible to tell which was leveraging the other. Penny often goaded Finnigan in embarrassing ways, and then Finnigan's public declaration labeling Penny sanctimonious and self-righteous was also quite interesting, not to mention the way that Penny had lied to her about her knowledge of the man. Marietta couldn't resist the impulse to investigate the situation further, if only to satisfy her own curiosity or to shield her friend from danger.
So, a couple of hours after most of the DMLE had cleared for the evening, Marietta prepared to head to the Golden Hound herself. Hopefully by the time she arrived, most of the group from the department would have helped themselves to the bar and gotten comfortable for the night. It was a cheap tactic, but not one that Marietta was above exploiting. Besides, the Golden Hound wasn't the sort of place she'd visit purely for pleasure, it was pedestrian at best, so Marietta planned to leave the bar with some shred of information.
"Please tell me you remove the stick you keep shoved up your arse at the Ministry before you visit places like this," Marietta said as she slid onto the barstool next to Seamus Finnigan himself. "Otherwise I will gladly invest my time elsewhere for unwinding after an unnecessarily stressful day at the office," she added. Marietta knew that Finnigan wouldn't be pleased to see her, but really, what else had he expected her to do but turn up at the Golden Hound tonight?
