I'm here via Dacro's rec, and -- Oh, goodness! I'm stopping in the middle of the first part to type because I'm already impressed and want to leave you with some good feedback, because -- aaah! Decent mpreg! You quench my thirst. You make me swoon. (Take me now!)
First off, the fact that male pregnancy is not written off as a fact of life in the wizarding world: thank you so much. (Even I do that writing mpreg, and I shouldn't. I really shouldn't.) You've hit the nail on the head with the Weasley boys' reactions to the matter: they believe it, are bothered, but they're not confused over the prospect over men being magically impregnated (they're wizards, after all, and strange things do occur), but are more freaked out by the horrid politics that are being forced upon their brother and fellow citizens. Moreover, this is a completely believable backlash to the war, where so many Purebloods have been lost. The corrupt Ministry would stoop so low to reestablish the population. I've read many a fic where wizards are forcefully paired up to bond/marry/have babies/what-have-you, but this is the first I've seen the situation used as not merely a plot-device, but a feasible trait of the story as a whole. Yes!
Some mentions after having read the whole thing:
1) Is it just me, or was Harry telling Draco to be a man and pull his weight very sexy for some reason? Anyway, it was really pleasing that Draco had to be talked into taking the job, even if his current job was horrid and abusive. Of course he would have reservations about working for Harry. He's Harry. It shouldn't be easy.
2) Draco swallowed. His pride, he realized.
Heheheheh.
3) Charlie and Draco in the garden was very sweet, without being fluffy. Not the sex scene (though that was certainly not lacking); I mean the "making a memory" scene.
4) Your characterization of Snape is among the best I've ever seen. He cares for Draco without seeming like a "caring figure". He looms. He reacts so Snapishly, by saying just the sourest things, or even leaving the room without acknowledging others. He's not at all the grudgingly gentlemanly figure he is sometimes made out to be. There's something indescribable about your Snape. Frankly, I just love him.
Anyway, it's early in the morn! I've stayed up all night wanting to finish this, and I'm not disappointed I did. Will be pimping it first chance I get. It's sad people are often biased against mpreg, because this is not at all a typical mpreg fic. It's something wonderful, unique, and compelling all the way through. Thank you so much for sharing.
