Author's notes: I couldn’t fit this in Hogwarts-time, considering the tradition I chose, but this takes place about three or four years after. I hope you like this. Unfortunately he's dead and didn't leave any clues behind. It's decided that they will have to go to the source and ask the man himself. Includes themes from Samhain traditions and ancient magic.

Author's notes: This is an exchange fic for midnightdesire, who expressed an interest in Samhain and old magic, so this is my first attempt at writing about those topics. This is AU, since I haven't yet finished the series (bad fan, I know) and I want to keep Snape around a bit longer. :)
