Crescendo [09 Aug 2011|02:31am] It's 1981. Voldemort is on the rise. Death Eaters roam free. Hundreds have died or disappeared. As each day passes, the resistance grows weaker. Voldemort seems to be invincible and all hope seems lost, that is until a Prophecy is made; a child with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies to those who have thrice defied him and with a power that the Dark Lord will not understand. This child will bring an end to Voldemort's reign. And so the Dark Lord set out to kill this child before he could grow into a threat. We all know the story, little Harry Potter is that child, his parent's die to protect him, the Dark Lord falls, Sirius Black is sent to prison, The Longbottoms are tortured to insanity, dozens more die, and the survivors are left broken. But let's not get further into that, because we all know that story. Because, what if the story had a different outcome? What if you had a chance to re-write canon? Decide who lives? Who dies? Who wins the war? What if you could re-write history? Here is your chance! Crescendo is an AU Marauders Era RPG taking place in 1981, when the war is in full swing. Through your actions, the story will slowly unravel into something new and exciting, or still have the same outcome. The ending is unknown, but the journey to discovering it will be a good one. [09 Aug 2011|03:56am] It's the new school year at Piffled and the students have a lot more to worry about than just a bunch of mandatory art electives. A student-run campaign, strengthened by the support of prefects, has changed the Hogwarts curriculum forever. Now a mandatory sexual education course is in place for all students 16 and older. Sex was previously a banned subject at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry under the assumption that "parents took care of that sort of thing" and the students were "too young to be having it anyway". That's old school now. This school year will go down in Hogwarts history as the year that the school expanded itself as being not only a magical institution with the artistic backbone established by the Ministry since 1998, but also as a place that truly prepares young adults for adulthood in the best way they know how. If you thought having The Talk with your mum was awkward, try having it with the Headmaster. *** Piffled has been open since June 2010 and is still running. Focusing on students from 5th to 7th year and recent Hogwarts graduates, it is about to enter the the 2023-2024 school year. An event oriented game, students are encouraged to participate in as many clubs, school activities, and events as possible. [09 Aug 2011|05:35pm] PREMISE | RULES | FAQ | CAST | APPLY In 2010, the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office of the Ministry of Magic finally granted permission for the next wave of muggle electronics -- the television -- to be studied and modified with magic. Ten years later, there was a telly in the home of every witch and wizard with programming ranging from goblin talk shows to galleon game shows to dramas, comedies, music videos, and even movies. More recently, 2021 saw the advent of reality shows, like The Fashion Show and Love Potion No. 9. Get Real! was conceived by Maximus Trimble and Rhonda Roads as a way to appeal to the teenage demographic as well as pull in an older crowd on the strength of nostalgia. It's a reality TV show all about the life of the "average" Hogwarts student and the drama, laughs, and loves that blossom between them. Season 1 begins filming this school year. By proxy of returning to school this year all students and parents have given their permission to be featured and/or mentioned on the programme. Five years to deal with grief, loss, and the destruction left in the Dark Lord's wake. The scars on the Wizarding world are starting to fade, but the memory still lingers on the minds of many. Moving on and healing were the main motivators for this generation, but no one was expecting the forgotten obstacle they would now have to conquer: society and the gossip at it's foundation. Now, more than ever, the use of gossip circulates in an attempt to offer something to focus on other than the mistakes and struggles of the past. Like bees to a hive, Wizarding society has fed the flame of the Daily Prophet's Gossip Column, further diminishing the papers reputation. It doesn't seem to matter how quiet you keep your business, the eyes of society are always watching. Game opens August 2oth.
