It had been a rough day at work, and Katie was looking forward to just going home and relaxing. She debated picking up some takeaway for dinner, but decided against it, figuring she would just have leftovers.
She opened the door of her small flat, and was surprised at what she saw.
The front entry and living room were filled with what looked like several dozen long stemmed red roses, and the table at the far end near the kitchen was set for a romantic dinner for two.
Before she could say anything, Fred emerged from the kitchen, a wide smile upon his face.
"Hope you're hungry, love," he said as he used his wand to light the candles he had placed on the table.
"Fred Weasley, how did you get in here?" she asked him, surprised. She never recalled giving her boyfriend a key to her place, not yet anyway.
"Ah, you forget that I know how to pick locks," he answered with a wink.
"You do know this is breaking and entering, right?" she responded, more amused than anything else.
"Well...yeah. But I wanted to surprise you," he said. Walking over to where she stood, he took her tote bag and placed it on the floor before taking her arm and escorting her to the table.
As she sat down, she noticed a small box sitting on her plate. Curious, she opened it, and her eyes widened as she saw the diamond solitaire ring glittering back at her.
A moment later, Fred was on one knee at her side.
"Marry me?" he asked, feeling quite nervous now.
Katie felt happy tears welling up in her eyes as she turned to him.
"Yes, I will," she answered, feeling quite emotional as Fred took the ring from the box and placed it on her left ring finger. "I can't believe this!"
"Believe it," Fred stated just before brushing her lips with his own.
