Fic: Duty Before Pleasure
Title: Duty Before Pleasure
Pairing: Minerva McGonagall/Severus Snape
Prompt: Patience
Rating: Alas probably not more than PG-13
Word Count: 725
Summary: It's cold and late and neither really wants to wait...
Patrolling the chilly halls of Hogwarts castle on a January night wasn’t Minerva’s idea of a good time, but it was both necessary and required of a Head of House. She freely acknowledged that one had to accept the unpleasant duties along with the pleasant ones when one held a position of authority, so she never complained or shirked this duty, but as she moved briskly along peering into each shadowy alcove she passed, she couldn’t help longing to be tucked up in a warm, comfortable bed... preferably with a warm, willing partner.
The dark space behind the statue of Gertrude the Grouchy appeared more impenetrable than usual, and as she paused to examine the slightly opaque space more closely, a pale hand reached out of the shadows, grasped her about the wrist and drew her back into a magical cloud of darkness. Before she could say a word, she was spun around and a hard male body was pressed full length against her back. A low voice whispered a single word in her ear. “When?”
With a knowing smile, she leaned back as warm lips nuzzled her neck and the hand on her wrist let go and moved to gently knead the flesh of her breast through her robes.
Her breath caught in her throat for a moment before she whispered back, “At least an hour, I’m afraid. I just caught a couple of Hufflepuffs in a narrow corridor near the library. After I sent them off to bed, I caught a glimpse of Sybil sneaking down the hallway, heading goodness knows where, carrying a large bundle in her arms. We need to let things quiet down some more.”
“Hufflepuffs, really?” Severus murmured softly, surprise evident even in his obvious distraction.
“Hufflepuffs may not be known as rules breakers, but I’ve always found them to be a more eclectic bunch in actuality. They tend to be a bit less predictable than the other houses,” said Minerva thoughtfully.
“Hmmm... Perhaps you’re right,” agreed Severus as he nibbled his way down the side of her neck. “Not that I want to waste any more time discussing the relative merits of Hufflepuffs as a group or individually when we could be doing something much more interesting. Are you sure we need to wait an hour? Trelawney was probably off getting rid of her empties. I imagine she’s hoping for privacy as much as we are.”
His body rubbed more insistently against hers and instinctively she let her hand drift back to caress him through the cloth of his trousers. The bulge that met her questing fingers was already hard and his cock jumped eagerly at her touch, accompanied by a low throaty groan as Severus rested his head against hers.
She swallowed hard and forced herself to remove her hand before answering. “To be safe, we probably should. It’s not quite midnight yet. Have you caught any students out of bed this evening?”
“No. Fortunately for them.” His voice held a slight tremor before steadying as he continued, “It’s been a blissfully quiet night so far. A night tailor made for the mind to wander off in more pleasant directions.” While one hand continued to fondle her breast, its mate slid slowly down over her abdomen to rub gently between her legs.
She shivered yet suddenly felt warmer than she had all evening. “An hour isn’t too long to wait,” she said firmly as much to convince herself as him.
“It’s a damned eternity and you know it,” he whispered back.
She pulled gently away and, with a sigh and a final caress, he let her go. “One hour, I promise. Meet me in my office.”
Suddenly he grasped her face and pressed his hot, hungry mouth to hers in a breath-taking kiss. When he finally released her, he said, “One hour. Don’t be late. Patience is one virtue I never believed in.” Then with a swirl of black robes and firm footsteps, he was gone.
When she emerged from behind the statue a moment later, she caught a brief glimmer of movement at the head of the nearest staircase before all was silent and still. She smiled to herself and turned to head in the opposite direction. Patience wasn’t always her favourite virtue either. On the other hand, she’d always been quite a fan of punctuality.
