"Moony, are you coming?" James asked as Peter grabbed his schoolbag and headed towards the door.

"In a minute. Just go ahead. I'll see if I can get Padfoot to actually wake up."

"Good luck with that," chuckled Peter and he left the dormitory with James.

"Okay you! Get up!" Remus threw some clothes in Sirius' face.

Sirius moaned.

"Hurry, we're going to Hogsmeade, but we have to leave before lessons start and people see us."

"What?" Sirius sat up. "Hogsmeade? Are you, the Prefect, suggesting that we skip school?"

"I am indeed suggesting that," Remus said. "You need a day off. We both do. Now where is Severus' wand?"

"I broke it in half and threw it away."

"You what?"

"Joking. Relax. It's in my pocket next to mine."

Remus found Severus' wand and threw the clothes back on the bed.

"I'm going to return this, and meanwhile you get dressed and meet me by the one-eyed witch in five minutes. Okay?"

"Fine," moaned Sirius and fell backwards onto his pillow.

"I mean it," said Remus. "Be there in five minutes or I'm coming here to get you."

Remus walked out of the dormitory and out of Gryffindor tower. He hurried down to the Defence classroom, put the wand on the teacher's desk and wrote a made-up note about finding this wand and if the teacher knew who it belonged to. He put the note on top of the wand and ran up to the third-floor. Sirius was already standing there.

"So what did your boyfriend say about you spending the day with me? I bet he exploded with anger." Sirius smirked.

"Very funny, Sirius," said Remus and searched the corridor for signs of other people before approaching his friend. "I didn't see him. I just left the wand somewhere he will find it."

"Were you afraid to tell him?"

"Stop it, let's go before someone catches us."

The two of them went through the hidden passageway and made their way to Hogsmeade.

The barman at the Hog's Head didn't say anything when the two walked in, ordered two butterbeers and sat down at a table in the back of the room. Both Sirius and Remus knew that Madame Rosmerta would make a big deal out of them not being at school, but Aberforth wasn't like that, as long as they paid for their drinks and didn't make much noise, he couldn't care less.

The two of them sat there in silence for a few minutes, awkwardly sipping their butterbeers and staring into thin air.

Finally Remus dared to break the silence: "We need to talk."

"I guess you want to talk about Snivellus," Sirius moaned.

"Actually, no," Remus said. "I wanted to talk about you."

"About me?" Sirius almost chocked on his butterbeer. "Why? Do we have to?"

"You know why."

Sirius took another sip. He clearly didn't want to talk about this, but Remus was not going to let this go.

"You can't go around spying on us and then come with an outburst like that and expect me not to want to talk about it."

"What do you see in him?"

"Severus?"

"Yes, of all the boys at Hogwarts. Why him?"

"He's really not how you think he is," Remus said and smiled. "We have a lot of common interests, he's fun to be around."

"Fun? Snivellus?" Sirius laughed.

"Yes, Sirius. His sense of humour is just wonderful, but I know you will never be able see that."

"But he's so ... I don't know … creepy," said Sirius.

"No, he's not," Remus stated. "I just wished he could show the rest of the world how he really is. It can't be easy for him."

"I still think he's a skinny, ugly, big-nosed git," Sirius muttered.

"Well maybe I like skinny, ugly, big-nosed gits," Remus hissed back.

Silence fell and they both just sat there, finishing their butterbeers.

"Am I gay?" Sirius suddenly asked.

"Are you worried that you might be?"

"Yes."

"Have you ever thought you were before?"

"No."

"Then why now?"

"Because watching you two did things to me."

"What things?"

"Just, things."

"I don't know how your mind works," said Remus. "You know that better than I do. So only you could answer that question."

"How did you know you were gay?"

"When I realised I was checking out the Hufflepuff Quidditch keeper's butt whenever he walked in front of me instead of that blonde Chaser you and James couldn't shut up about."

Sirius snorted. "Andy Phillips?"

Remus nodded.

"That wasn't the first time, though," Remus added. "I'd had dreams. And girls were never as interesting to me as they were to you, James and Peter."

"I just thought you didn't like to talk about girls."

"Well, obviously," Remus chuckled.

Sirius smiled.

"I still think I like girls, though," Sirius said. "And I haven't had any dreams about any boys."

"That's okay," said Remus. "I won't judge you. Although I don't see how you can still like girls after watching me and Severus. I mean, come on, we are two very sexy lads, just admit it."

"Shut up," Sirius chuckled.

"But seriously. I think it's just normal to get a bit confused. You just have to do whatever feels right to you no matter what that is. Just promise me that you'll never stop being you."

"Blah, stop being so sappy," Sirius said. "We need more butterbeer before you get even more pathetic."

Remus laughed.

"Thank you for being so cool about this, Sirius," Remus said. "I didn't know how to tell you. I just didn't know how you would react. Both about the gay thing, but even more about the guy being Severus. And when you refused to talk to me, I became so worried. I really don't want to lose our friendship."

"Just don't say anything to the others, will you?" Sirius asked.

"Not a word!" Remus promised. "And you won't say anything either, right? Not until Severus is ready to come forward."

"Promise," Sirius said.

"Now where's my butterbeer?"
