Title: I'm on Fire Pairing: Dean/Seamus Rating: PG-13 Summary: Dean is glad he's there the one time Seamus wins his argument.
The Sorting Hat had taken nearly a whole minute to put Seamus into Gryffindor during their first year feast, and Dean had never let him forget it. He'd say it's because Seamus took forever to get from here to there or anywhere--always taking the longest route, never seeking the path of least resistance.
It takes until the end of October their sixth year for Seamus to find an argument of his own: that the journey was everything and Dean never did have any patience. He says it fast, his brogue eating up half his words, his clammy hands sneaking beneath the waist of Dean's thick woolen jumper, surprising them both. The kiss happens faster, finished nearly before it begins, and when Dean opens his eyes, he's momentarily blinded by the light of the bonfire and the brighter flame burning in Seamus' eyes that Dean can see holds a dare alongside Seamus' fear of having done it wrong. Dean can't answer him on the latter but he knows the former--can meet that, at least. He kisses Seamus back with everything he has and everything he's wanted, the destination sweet no matter how long it had taken to get there.
