Title: Just in Case Character/Pairing: Charlie/Luna Rating/Warning: PG, a wee bit scary A/N: Happy Halloween! :D
It was a haunted house in the Muggle sense of the term and Charlie was fine until he chose left at a split in the corridor. A door closed behind him and several meters away, a girl sprawled limply in a tall, rickety chair. Her pale hair was arranged neatly, but her eyes were blank as she stared up at the ceiling. Charlie knew her face, and knew it was all part of the haunted house, but his hand still twitched with the instinct to draw his wand.
Oh, your eyes, like autumn leaves, Luna's voice whispered to him, with the feeling of breath curling along his neck. He rubbed his ear against his collar and took a step forward. Falling, falling, tumbling down…
Charlie rushed forward when she slipped suddenly in the chair, the lace at her neck catching on the splintered wood. Her face tilted at an odd angle, and Charlie jumped the front display with little recognition to the two girls crouched below. "Luna?" He muttered, and lifted her free. He ran soft fingers over her cheek.
She blinked away the blankness and smiled hazily at him. "We're only pretending," she said. He nodded, because he knew that, but still felt relieved.
