Snape held up the hind end of a centaur and stared at it askance. “I am not wearing this in public, Lupin! Why would you choose such a ridiculous costume?”

“It required two people,” said Lupin. “You said you were willing to go in coordinating costumes. You’re overlooking the possibilities, Severus.”

Tossing the costume at the box it came out of, Snape crossed his arms and glared at his companion.

“If you mean the possibility of humiliation, I assure you I’m not overlooking anything. I will not spend an entire evening encased in hide and bent over with my face in your arse.”

Lupin grinned. “You didn’t seem to mind…”

Snape snorted. “That’s different and you know it. If I wore this, my back would be killing me after only a few minutes.”

“Okay, you can be the front end then.”

“And walk around half naked? I’d sooner go dressed as Helga Hufflepuff, at least I’d be decently clad!”

Lupin smiled as he lifted two more costumes from the box, a red and gold robe and an elaborate gown in black and yellow. “Funny you should say that. The last costumes the shop had were Gryffindor and Hufflepuff.”

Snape sighed.
