Title: Through the Fog Characters: Harry Potter Rating: PG Summary: The fog was thicker than Harry had ever seen it, but it was not cursed. It wasn't. No matter what Draco Malfoy said. Notes: Once again, thank you to the mods for hosting my absolute favorite fest of the year! It wouldn't be Halloween without it. Also, a huge thanks to Whitney | csichick_2 for her beta'ing skills. And to plaidphoenix, I hope you enjoy! And Happy Halloween!
The fog was thicker than Harry had ever seen it, so thick in fact that he couldn’t see an inch in front of his nose. It almost felt alive, like it was a living being, swirling around him, covering the house and the grounds, engulfing every person and tree and animal in its path.
Harry shuddered, the hair on the back of his neck standing up.
He was just being a prat, he told himself, believing anything Draco Malfoy had to say.
The fog was a curse, Draco had said, cast by an evil wizard to find a soul to claim every Halloween night. But Draco had only been trying to scare the females at the party. It wasn’t true.
Harry took a step forward, then another. The fog seemed to thicken around him, blinding him. He couldn’t see anything. It was invading his lungs. He couldn’t breathe.
He turned to go back, to race inside, but then he heard it — something whispering, calling his name.
He needed to run, but he couldn’t move. Something was there, pressing against him, leaning into him, touching him.
