Harry didn't realize 'Bring the dessert' meant that a baking challenge had been issued until he surveyed the basement kitchen littered with stacked bowls and bits of flour. Draco always had been competitive.
"I thought we're asking Kreacher for help."
Draco let out an anguished huff. "I thought you'd be out until later."
Harry stepped closer, running a hand along Draco's back and feeling the muscles relax. He peered over Draco's shoulder and got a strong whiff of burnt sugar. "What are you making?"
"Golden syrup, obviously."
They stared at the spatula stirring the dark mixture. "For?"
Draco sighed and looked to the right. "Treacle tart."
Harry noticed the discarded pie tins and felt the familiar rush of affection.
Draco turned around. "I'm brilliant at potions. It's this recipe that's dodgy."
"Yes, you are." Harry smiled at the smudge of flour on Draco's cheek. "Fancy making brownies with me?"
"They were a hit with Mother."
Harry nodded and searched the kitchen for ingredients. Draco measured and mixed with a great deal of concentration.
Harry held out a leftover chocolate chunk for Draco to eat. "You'll be brilliant."
They Apparated to the Burrow, Draco gripping Harry's hand tightly the whole way.
