Title: Halloween Gift for cordeliadelayne Pairing: Snape/Lupin Rating: G Warnings: Post war non-canon Summary: Remus is late coming home. Severus greets the trick-or-treaters. It doesn't end well.
Remus was laughing so hard he could barely breathe.
He had hurried home, unavoidably late, vexed that he would miss the trick-or-treaters, and worried that Severus, who didn't look favourably upon any children, but especially not Muggle children dressed up as their idea of witches and wizards, would be home first. But there in the front yard was Severus, elegant robes transformed into faded rags, his already formidable nose cruelly enlarged, his hair lengthened and stringy, stirring a cauldron that steamed over a real fire.
Stirring it with the handle of an inverted broom.
Remus hadn't survived the wars by being slow-witted, so it didn't take Severus' incendiary glare to tell him that this was not his idea. He needed two tries to end the enchantment that locked Severus in place, and Severus groaned as the spell faded, straightening and cracking his back.
Remus tried to look more sympathetic than amused as he put an arm around his lover.
"How the hell was I supposed to know the begging brat's mother was a witch?"
"Come inside; I'll make it up to you."
"All your fault, anyway."
"You've had your trick, now it's time for your treat."
