This fic is brilliant -- one of my top favorites of the fest. The pairing is inspired, the setting ditto. The working-class language sounds perfect; the magic is really effective and fun, just the sort of think I can imagine Dung doing.
I love the structure: the clever use you make of the "list" and the Muggle-meta with which the story begins. You create such a textured world here, with each character so fully drawn, from Burden to Tricksy to Ma Shunpike.
And Stan...oh, poor, lovely dim Stan, the dear gormless berk. He's priceless. I don't have words enough for how wonderful a job you've done with him. This line had me laughing aloud: Stan's jaw dropped. "Kwikspell is a con?" he said. Ahaha! And Mundungus's perfect response.
The whole story is hilarious, yet like all great comedy, there's seriousness underneath, and genuine tenderness.
A total triumph. This is why I read Beholder. This.
