Oh god, this is just amazing. I can't remember exactly what I put in my sign up, but I doubt I was terribly helpful on prompts as I'm vague on things like that at the best of times :) I'm glad something inspired you to this in any case, because it's perfect! I'm pretty sure I didn't mention my love of interrogation scenarios, so you must be some sort of mindreader, mystery author.
I can't even describe how much I love that we see nothing beyond the room, and that the details are so harsh and cold, especially the 'more akin to the way a canny raven might look as it gauged whether it could pluck out a lamb's eye while mother ewe wasn't watching'. Though I love how Snape's voice and movements become softer as he gets under Moody's skin: 'fond reminiscence', 'his voice was soft and compelling', and my favourite 'stroked the metal tenderly.' Something about that last image is terribly chilling, as well as wrong in the best possible way :)
Few things make me happier than reading a fic with great dialogue, and this is an absolute joy to read from start to finish. I love that I can not just hear the voices, but that they speak like real people.
I'm not sure exactly what it is, but I feel like your writing is familiar, mystery author. I will have to reread and give it some thought! But whether I know you or not, thank you for such a wonderful gift. I love it to little bits. *hugs*
