I loved the glimpses of Augusta's everyday life, filled with such contentment in the aftermath of the war. The smell of rich, meaty tomato sauce wafted from the kitchen, danced into the living room and tip-toed towards the front door. What a fabulous (and mouth-watering!) description! The peeks into her friendship with Griselda and Neville's new-found maturity and happiness were delightful.
It was wonderful the way she coaxed Alastor out of his shell and further afield, until she had him right where she wanted him. :-) And poor Neville, discovering at such a late age that his gran is also a woman - whoda thunk it? Eh, he'll get over it, but I bet he knocks next time around! ::g:: Excellent job, Mystery Author!
