Wow - this is just so very *real*! The voice you give Moody is just perfect - as acerbic, gruff and frank as he ought to be - and the peek inside his thoughts rings so true. One of the things that bothers me immensely about canon is the way that Moody's months in that trunk are just swept aside as if they were nothing, and to see him still raging over it and the failure of those who allegedly knew him best to figure out that there was something amiss seems a lot more realistic to me.
And Minerva - also extremely well done. We see her guilt and grief layered over that normally dauntless and straight-forward personality, but we also still see the fire underneath. It's no wonder that they come together and break apart with such ferocity. A lovely and very satisfying read, Mystery Author!
