This is just stunningly beautiful, melancholy and evocative and hopeful. Wow. You bring Petunia to such realistic life, flesh her out and make her sympathetic, all without painting rosily over the nasty things she did. Your prose is so beautifully spare - I love the way the details you choose reveal your characters and the world they are living in. Gorgeous.
