The character study in the second paragraph of this piece alone is breathtaking: I particularly like the line about "that Gryffindor smugness of an old cat who's never felt the lack of milk." It's fascinating to see an Umbridge who's not unshakably convinced that she's right and yet refuses to accept that she can't shape the entire universe the way she wants it. The relationship with Hooch is sketched out beautifully in the few, spare lines it's granted as well. Great job!
