Oh hell, do you have any idea how much I dislike Rita Skeeter? And you made me feel sympathy for her. Damn. :D
This really was quite brilliant. Rita's "caustic quill" comes through, even when she's talking about her lovers. And lines like this one, admitting to her fallibility and inability with relationships and other people is so very telling:
Rita, the memory of Amelia Bones’s reaction to her last blunder of this magnitude pervading her with icy terror more effectively than any threat of curses, scrambles to undo the damage.
Thea is equally well-drawn. Her husbands, the lack of concrete information about her complicity in their deaths, gave her just the right touch of mystery to bring her squarely back to canon.
