The bright red splash of the settee draws the eye immediately to the center. I love the body language - him with his head bowed straight over his chest, hands cupped in his lap, his legs slightly spread - an open stance, while hers is closed - head tucked down into lifted shoulder, arms relaxed, but the hands buried in her lap, knees drawn together, feet pigeon-toed to bring some stability to her hunched form. It's as if what wants expressed - his beseeching for her trust and her doubts (but not out-right refusal) about same, can find expression only in the unawareness of sleep. Just brilliant!
