That was beautiful, oh mystery author. I really, really like it a lot. It's incredibly atmospheric and the atmosphere sends shivers down my spine. Your description of the Snapes from an outsider's point of view gives the whole fic an almost fairy-tale-like, magical feel. I completely forgot that the Snapes weren't the wizarding family, because there's something so mysterious and creepy about them - Tobias Snape seems much, much worse than "just" an abusive husband, even though we hardly see any interaction between him and Eileen.
And oh, poor Eileen. Her dreams so terribly shattered. The last line truly is a punch in the gut.
