This is so super! I think I know who you are ( :-) ), and - if I'm right - although so many of your fics are superb, this might now be my favourite.
I particularly adored the parts of the narrative that served as Neville's inner monologue - from not being able to remember Millicent's name at the beginning to getting himself all hot and bothered over fruit-and-food analogies at bedtime, and then having to be - yet again - brave when he'd rather not.
Giant snakes were nothing compared to this. Ha ha ha!
You made us cheer for him every step of the way; so real, and also so likeable. You have also painted Millicent beautifully here, giving her depth and poignancy as we see her mourn for Crabbe, and her surprise at being defended to Neville's friends was very touching.
Their clumsy, injury-prone romance was both comic and adorable, and although the pair seemed a bit unlikely at first, you've really convinced me that it can work :-)
