What an absolutely delightful story! Oh, you've made me so happy.
We finally got our WiFi back today. The kids went back to school yesterday. And so this was my opportunity to read it at last. I have been looking forward to this SO MUCH.
And finally getting to sit and read this totally exceeding my expectations. I love the world you build here, the lovely, civilised academic atmosphere of this post-war French University, with its sharp-eyed, competitive Professors and eccentric, clever, lusty young students. I love the friendship between Xenophilius and Horace, as well as the beginnings of a relationship between Xenophilius and Albus. Albus' reactions are so complex and understandable: his guilt at avoiding the confrontation with Grindelwald and his fear that he's just taken advantage of a vulnerable young student. You write all of that so well.
It's Xenophilius I really love, though. I now realise that I have read far too little about him. He's a fascinating character. His back-story is tragic, but the love his mother gave him mirrors his own parenting of Luna, thus building a strong foundation for two generations. His naiivity is lovely, and makes perfect sense, and his awakening to feelings of sexual attraction feels very real.
Thank you so much for an absolutely wonderful fic. I feel very, very blessed.
