This is such a sad, wonderful story. I love how Millicent slowly, suddenly discovers Greg's gifts (which were waiting for someone to be willing to see them--he's had them all along underneath is difficulty with language). I also love how sweet Greg is, and how much Millicent changes as she comes up against this man who seems so hardened but who doesn't fight back. Who accepts his faults and limitations and grieves them. And Millicent, still trying to figure out how to live with her grief...this story is desolate yet, at the end, hopeful.
