What a fabulous fic--and an amazing version of Sybill, especially. And the Beltane celebration, with its second wave feminists! (By that point in the fic, I'd slowed down to a crawl, savoring every word.)
You give Sybill a lot of credit here--really stretching the bounds of what we might know and believe about the character--and I just *love* that. I try so hard to be canon-compliant as a writer myself, so much of the time, and I value true-to-the-books characterization so highly, and yet every once in a while I have to step back and realized that JKR sacrifices a lot of complexity in the name of a laugh, and part of Beholder is recovering those simplified-to-a-joke characters. You really recovered Sybill for me here. Thank you. M.
