Later, those among the living would say it looked like she and Remus were sleeping. But it sure as hell didn't feel like going to sleep when it happened. But what had happened? Tonks groaned, dark eyes opening as she tried to peel herself up from the ground. Fuck! No time to be on the ground. Remus was in danger! And Ginny! She sprang up, wand at the ready for the next round against the Death Eaters. But they weren't anywhere to be found. Neither were any of her companions. There was, however, a house. She was inside the gates. Odds bodkin, if you asked her.
The dark-eyed witch looked around, pressing her hand to her head to check for bleeding. It must have been some spell, she decided. Maybe it was some sort of transportation spell that she hadn't been told about? A safe house? If it was, she was definitely going back! So she tried to Apparate back to the melee, but ended up going nowhere fast. Panic was definitely starting to set in now. But when panic set in, so too did the Auror part of her brains. Think, Nymphadora. Remember! She thought long and hard, moving toward the exit of the gates to see where it led. But she couldn't pass. Then..."Fuck." She’d be saying that much more loudly when she realized that she wasn’t alive.
"I'm waiting, then." She spoke stubbornly to herself, or Whoever was listening. Stubborn like a mule, like her mother. The others would Apparate to this same place. Right? Right. She shook up the messy bob of hair, thick locks absently shifting from pink to orange before settling on a strange sunset combination of both, and looked around again. She shifted from foot to foot as well, nervous energy needing to be expelled while she waited for the other members of the Order to arrive. Well. Might as well go into the house and wait in there. So the witch walked up to the house, staring at the door for a long few minutes. Then, with a deep breath taken, she opened the door and stepped in.
And then proceeded to trip over her untied shoelace, face planting right on the floor.
