Characters: Prim and Remus When: Monday Location: First floor hallway Warnings/Rating: None Summary: What's likely to be an awkward kiss Status: In progress.
Remus slid the phone back into his pocket. He made a move to shift his stance before remembering that his feet were firmly stuck to the floor. Prim was on her way to "rescue" him and Remus had mixed feelings about it. He was completely unexperienced in all things remotely romantic and that included kissing. Yes, Remus John Lupin had never so much as kissed a girl's lips, hand, or cheek. Well, a girl that wasn't his mum at least.
It hadn't been for a lack of his friends trying to push him into it, of course. They had coaxed him to at least asking a girl out to Hogsmeade for a simple date pointing out that it wouldn't necessarily lead to anything. It was obvious that having a steady girlfriend would be a hard thing to pull off without revealing his secret but it was true that he could have managed a date or two. It wasn't that girls found him unattractive or anything especially after he had become such good friends with James and Sirius. Their appeal rubbed off on him some, it seemed. But if he was being honest with himself it was a little bit more than just wanting to keep his secret. There was also the fact that he intensely feared rejection. With his self esteem already as low as it was he didn't know if he could handle a date gone wrong or a botched kiss. Without any experience, it was actually sort of easier to pretend that any reason a girl wouldn't like him would be due to being a werewolf.
And even if things did go right, he'd just have to think of an excuse eventually to break it off which would hurt both of them. He couldn't think of a way of looking at it that wasn't just leading the girl on and that felt unethical. So it was a subject Remus had always just left alone. He made excuses or politely explained he wasn't interested.
But Prim did know about his condition and was somehow willing to kiss him anyways. Even if it was just on the cheek, Remus considered it pretty miraculous. Under these conditions, he figured it wouldn't hurt too much to take her up on it. At least he could get a taste of what it was like without the chance of fallout. Because deep down he did want to kiss and be kissed. Though that didn't stop his throat from tightening up at the thought.
After waiting for a while, he realised he likely looked very nervous the way he had crossed his arms and stood there with poor posture. Remus straightened up, smoothed his clothes and attempted to look calm.
