Day Two
Characters: Simon, Kaylee
When: November 17 after her arrival
Location: their room
Warnings/Rating: None anticipated
Summary: Simon finally finds Kaylee
Status: Closed, ongoing
Simon had spent most of the morning of his second day exploring the first floor and basement. When he'd first gone down to the basement, it had been the stereotypical dark, creepy, cement basement. In the course of his explorations (and somehow without him noticing) it had shifted to a brighter, furnished area. Like everywhere else in the house, it was flooded with doors. He did note there were more gold symbols down here, and he wondered if that was significant somehow. Or, if like everything else so far, it was simply random. He'd been searching out a place to set up an infirmary, though with the house changing like it did, he wasn't sure that would be plausible. Maybe if he asked real nice -- or maybe it would show up after they'd all been here half a year. Running his hand down his face at the thought of that, Simon sighed. While he hadn't recalled his adventures on the Orient while he was home on Serenity, he recalled every moment of them now. He was remarkably disinclined to spend another year kidnapped somewhere. This place didn't even offer the promise of a rescue -- the note (if whoever had written it could be believed) said the house would send them back. It was less than promising. Climbing up the basement stairs, Simon thought about seeing if River was around before deciding she was probably out exploring somewhere. She'd know where to find him if she needed him, but he would make a point of checking around dinner time to see where she was. Heading up the stairs to his floor, Simon thought the house could use an elevator, too. Well, maybe one would show up in the foyer some day. He shook his head, and he couldn't help but wonder if he'd be handling this nearly as well if it wasn't for his time on the train. He doubted it; a house that randomly changed itself was far from normal, though normal varied by reality. When he reached the door to the room he (supposedly) shared with Kaylee, he paused as he saw a phone sitting on the bed. Since his was in his pocket, he thought it stood to reason that meant Kaylee had arrived. "Kaylee?" He called curiously as he looked around the room to see if she'd found it yet. If she wasn't here, he thought he'd have to go look for her. |
