"Hello, Beatrice," he said, holding out a hand for her to shake with a smile. "It is nice to finally make your acquaintance." She seemed like a lovely person, and one who loved her job. Why else would she go out of her way to make small talk with someone who was waiting to be called back? If he knew the terrible things she was thinking about his darling wife, his opinion of her would have bottomed out, but as it stood he had no idea she was thinking ill of Ruby. "I am, yes," he admitted with a grin. "My wife and I are looking forward to it very much." The idea of Ruby being pregnant set a grin on his face, as any thought of her was like to do.
Ever since they'd admitted their feelings to one another, his life had seemed like a dream come true. He had a beautiful woman who he adored, a job that he enjoyed, and new friends to spend time with. He couldn't be happier about the way his life was shaping up, even if he did need to have weekly doctor's visits. "I can't wait to be able to hold our child," he said wistfully, looking off into the distance over her head. "I can't believe how lucky I am, really."
