After so long away from home, Jaz had almost given up on the idea of normality, and this world was about as far from that as you could possibly get. It had taken a fair bit of encouragement to get Dean to head out for a walk, but he'd been brooding for days now, and when John arrived - again - she figured it was time to get him out for some fresh air. Okay, so the air wasn't that fresh, and the grass was kinda sticky, but it was the best they had for now. The forest seemed like a good place to hang out, though Jaz knew well enough that Dean wouldn't talk about how he felt until he was good and ready. Small talk was enough, for now. Maybe that's why things worked with them - neither pushed the other, cause both were more than capable of being stubborn and pushing back as hard as you like! "You get that from your mother!" Granny May called out from the kitchen of her house. Yeah, that was really comforting! The last time Jaz had seen her mother, in any form, was when she'd been escaping hell for the first time, and her mother had done everything in her power to drag her back down. Yeah, thanks mom! as if she'd done anything worth a damn when she'd been on Earth, either, other than deal out the rough treatment whenever she saw fit. Not like Dean's family. Whenever he talked about his father, he got a wistful glint in his eyes, and Jaz knew his death hurt more than any of the others he'd endured. Except maybe Sam's. She glanced over at him and smiled, "this place is nuts. Actually, strike that. Nuts are about the only food-stuff I don't see! Too healthy, I'm guessing." From one of the trees she picked a weird ghost fruit, "okay, I admit, I'm impressed," her eyebrows raised, "catch?" she said, deftly tossing the candy Dean's way, giving him plenty of height and room to catch the fruit. "So..." she watched his face carefully, "how're you doing with recent events?" she asked as though she was requesting a review of the candy. No big deal, if he didn't want to discuss it, that was good too. |
