Who: Dean Winchester & Charlie Bradbury
Where: Outside
When: Sunday afternoon
Warnings: n/a
Summary: Dean is going to teach Charlie how to use some weapons.
Status: Closed/dice
Ghostly Encounter: opt-in/out: In

Dean was bored. He had already checked out Tombstone a few times now and there was only so many times he could walk around the same few streets before it bored him to death. He walked back into his and Jaz’s room when something caught his eye: his bag full of weapons that he had grabbed out of the Impala before the hotel decided to jump to a new place. He grabbed the bag and left the room. He knew exactly what he could do now. He went straight to Charlie’s room and knocked on the door, loudly. “Charlie, you better be in there! Time to come out and shoot some things!” She wanted to learn and now would be the perfect time to learn.

Charlie had made the mistake of going outside the other day and noticed that the hotel had moved once again. The Western town wasn't that impressive, now if they were at Hogwarts or on a space station then it would be different, but only so much you could do if you walked down a dusty road. So, she had decided to spend more time in the hotel and messing with her computer as she tried to establish some kind of link to the outside world. Unfortunately nothing was working and she was almost ready to throw her laptop against the wall but that would require both arms. Damn.

While she was laying on her bed and moping for a moment after another failed attempt she heard the knocking on her door. It wasn't until halfway through his statement that she realized it was Dean. The shooting things definitely held some promise so she rolled over until she reached the edge of her bed and finally got up. Maybe a ghost town was the perfect place to practice since she couldn't really injure anyone. Quickly crossing the room she threw the door open and smiled, "Well, when you put it that way, of course I'll say I'm here."

Dean glanced up and down the hallway again before he knocked again. Maybe she wasn’t in there. If she weren’t then that meant he was going to have to track her down…or just get her attention on the network. Just when he was thinking of leaving the door swung open and there stood the red head that he wanted to see. “Took you long enough,” he teased. “Good, let’s go then. Unless you’re too busy doing whatever you were doing in there?” He didn’t really think she would turn down this opportunity to go shoot some things and that’s why he just kept on messing with her. “Come on then,” he said as he started to head back towards the elevator. “I figured now would be a good time to teach you a thing or two. There is no one around so you can’t hurt anyone.”

"I'm a slow mover sometimes, don't judge me," She teased him back and shook her head at his question, "Definitely not busy. And now would be great. Well, I can't hurt ghosts so that's a good thing. Well, I'm sure you guys know how to hurt ghosts but that's beside the point." She was starting to ramble a little more than she wanted to, but she was kind of excited about this. Her arm was starting to feel a little better so maybe if she used it while it was in the sling she would recover alright. Once the elevator opened its doors in front of them she stepped in and stood against the back wall, "Have you been out there yet? To the new place?"

“Judging you,” he teased right back. “You might know how right now, but at the end of this you will know what to do.” To be honest, he had no idea what she would know by the end of this. Then again who knew what she would know by the end of today. She might need more than just one lesson; a few might be in order. He stepped into the elevator and pushed the lobby floor button. He watched the doors closed and then glanced over at Charlie. “Yeah, a few times. You haven’t gone out there?” They had been there for days now and it sounded like she hadn’t left the hotel yet. How can anyone stay inside and not explore their new surroundings? “How long are you stuck in that thing?” he asked, nodding towards the sling that her arm was in. The elevator dinged and opened its doors when they reached their floor. He let Charlie go first before he stepped out and headed out of the hotel.

"Nah, wild west hasn't really been my thing. I was also afraid that I would go out there and be harassed for wearing the wrong clothes or something again. Kind of boring of me, but I'm going out now, I guess," she replied to him and shrugged her shoulder. She was a little afraid of what was outside as well since there was hauntings around the hotel. She didn't want to be stuck outside being attacked somehow and have no way to defend herself, "And I think I'm going to test my arm out in another week. It's been long enough that I'm hoping it's mostly healed. Can you even show me anything with my awesome one-arm-ness?" She stepped out of the eleavtor and waited for him on the other side.

“There is nobody out there. The place is a literal ghost town.” The town had felt off to him when they first arrived and after Jaz did her astral thing, it made sense why it felt off. The town was inhabited by ghosts, a lot of them. “You’re only going because you get to shoot things, be honest here.” He lead the way out of the hotel and down the street towards the perfect little spot for them to have their practice at. “You don’t need both arms to shoot a gun.” He dropped the bag of weapons and glanced around. “We need to grab anything that we can find for targets.” He walked off and grabbed a couple soda cans and a bottle. That was a start. He set them on the wooden fence before going off to find a few more things for Charlie to shoot at.

"Are there spirits out there? Like the bad kind?" She really wasn't a fan of the idea of malevolent spirits since she had finally figured out that was part of the reason she got injured in their big fight with Dick Roman, "And okay, I'm definitely wanting to go out just to go shoot things. You've peaked my interest." Actually being able to handle herself and defend herself was on the top of her list. While she was scared to actually handle a gun and do it wrong, she couldn't help but be interested in learning. Guns seems so dangerous, but she wanted to push past that scared part of herself. When they reached the proper location she nodded and wandered off for a moment to pick up random things she found on the ground and brought them to the fence, "Just don't get mad if I hurt myself. It's apparently my go-to thing in battle."

“There are spirits out there. A lot of them. They won’t do anything to us. I think,” Dean muttered the last bit. When he had explored the town with Jaz, nothing really happened to them. And no one else had said anything about something horrible happening when they went to explore the town, so he figured that they were still safe. Then again no one had gone out there for target practice. Anything could happen. He found a few more items and set them up on the fence. Between what he had found and what Charlie had found they had lots of things to shoot at. “Awesome,” he said more to himself than to Charlie. He grabbed one of the guns out of the bag and checked it to make sure there were bullets still left in the clip. He walked back over to Charlie and handed it to her. “Don’t somehow shoot me, okay?”

"Saying that is basically sealing your fate, you know that right?" She teased him a little as she took the gun from him very carefully. Firearms weren't something she had experience with, now if it had been a lightsaber it may be different, so she placed it in the palm of her hand and stared at it. It felt a little surreal and she was becoming more nervous that she would end up shooting him by accident. She closed her eyes for a brief second to remind herself to relax and just keep focused. Once her eyes opened she picked up the gun properly with her good hand and held it outward as she squinted and tried to figure out how to aim properly.

“I just screwed us, did I?” he asked looking serious at first, but a small smirk crossed his lips after a moment. Dean watched her as she took the gun from him. He could definitely tell that she was nervous. She wanted this. She is going to have to push all of that aside and focus on what she was doing. “Don’t squint and don’t do the one eye closed thing either, unless you want to miss.” After a moment he moved and stood right behind her. He put his hand over her’s and made her aim at one of the bottles. “Don’t over think it or you’ll miss.”

"Yup, just a little bit. You'll learn soon, padawan," She smirked back at him, which quickly turned into a regular smile before she focused on the gun again, "And really? I thought you were supposed to squint or close an eye. Look at all the weird things I'm learning." When he came over to her and placed his hand over hers she blinked and then did her best to clear her mind. She took a deep breath and looked forward and tried her best to aim before she pulled the trigger.

“We’ll live, I’m sure, Princess Leia.” Dean shook his head at Charlie. “What makes you think that squinting or covering up half of your vision would help make a good shot? Think about it, either way you’re taking away some of what is going on in front of you. How is that good? That’s weird? And I thought it was common sense.” With his help she hit the target, but then again of course she hit it. This was easy for him. “Look at that, you hit it. Now try doing that without my help.” He let go of her hand and stepped back. She was on her own this time. “Go on, hit the coke can that’s on your left.” He would be in shock if she actually hit the thing, but he really didn’t think she would do it.

"I have no idea, but it feels like it would help me focus on the target. But then again if someone is coming after me then having only one eye open would probably cause me to end up with a bullet in my head. And hush, I'm new at this," she finally replied with the last part, it came out slightly flustered. She wasn't used to being told that she was going about things completely wrong, but he did have a point and she accepted that, "And I'm glad I hit it, but damn that was strange. My hand is tingly...And okay, let me try to do this." After turning her body slightly so she could see the coke can better she took a deep breath and took aim. She really wasn't sure if she would hit anything, but at least she was trying so she bit her lip for a brief second and fired.

“So are you going to tell the thing that is attacking you to hold on while you focus your shot? Now you’re learning. As long as you can help it, do not take your eyes off of whatever you’re dealing with. You’ll end up dead if you do.” Dean just smirked when she told him to hush. “You’ll get used to it.” They might be in a little corner of the town, but he still couldn’t help but to keep an eye out of what was going on around them. He knew they weren’t really alone, not with all of those ghosts running around. “You missed,” he said, looking forward again. “Do it again.”

"You know that I would totally ask the thing to hold on for a moment, so don't even tease me about that. But I am learning that I should not do that, so good job, teach," when the shot missed she frowned a little bit but did bring her gun back up. She did her best to attempt to aim without squinting her eyes even though the urge was strong and when she fired the next time the bullet was even closer. Alright, progress! So she quickly raised the gun and adjusted her aim and finally managed to hit it on the third try, "Third time's a charm, boo-yah!"
