Tim was glad that they could relax during awards season this year. Chloe loved the excitement, the parties, all the hoopla but Tim was just as happy to skip it all. With the baby due at the end of March, they had turned down the invitations they’d received to vious parties and opted to watch the Oscars at home. It was perfect, the two of them with some popcorn, Lizzy sitting in the floor playing and Indy curled up on the couch beside them. “This is so much better than being there,” he said reaching for some popcorn from the bowl perched on Chloe’s stomach. “no crowds, no traffic, no having to pretend I’m not disappointed if Charlotte doesn’t win.” Tim laughed. His sister had been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for a movie she’d shot during Trauma Center’s hiatus last summer. “she said she doesn’t have a chance but she’s said that before and now she has three Emmys.” There was pride in his voice, Tim adored his little sister and knew how hard she’d fought to get where she was and now she was at the Oscars. Chloe absolutely adored Awards Season. Or at least she enjoyed it when she wasn’t eight months pregnant. They had gone to a few of the ceremonies over the last couple of months, but as much as she loved it there was no way Chloe was going to attempt the Oscar’s that pregnant. She was feeling large and cumbersome and welcomed the night at home with her family. “She’s got some stiff competition.” Chloe admitted as she reached for a handful of popcorn herself. Her belly was large, but it served well as a table right then, that was for sure. “But I think she’s got a chance at least. I guess we’ll see!” “I talked to her this morning. She’s not nervous, she said, but that was this morning. She seemed okay on the red carpet though,” they’d been watching the red carpet coverage both on tv and online and had watched a couple of different journalists interview Charlotte. “It’s so hard to believe that’s my sister. She used to be so quiet and then everything with that asshole but she’s come so far.” Tim was proud of his sister. She had indeed had a difficult time, surviving an abusive relationship, moving across the country to start over but she’d done it and now she had the career she’d always wanted. “Mom’s a wreck though. She said she didn’t know what she’d do if both of us got nominated some day.” He laughed and leaned over to kiss Chloe’s cheek. “this is so much better than sitting in traffic, isn’t it?” “Qhe did seem ok.” Chloe agreed. She adored Charlotte and was really rooting for her. Even it was an honor just to get nominated, nothing beat winning, and she wanted Charlotte to experience that some day. “She’s probably too wrapped up in the excitement to be nervous.” She pointed out. The red carpet and all surrounding it tended to pass in a blur when you were nominated, and as comfortable as Chloe was at the moment she had to admit she kind of missed that. “Well yea, considering I’d have to pee every five seconds and that would just be torture.” She teased lightly. “Your seat filler would be busy that’s for sure,” he laughed. “Oh Chloe has to go pee again? “ I do have to thank you though, this is the perfect time to be pregnant. I don’t have to dress up and sit there for three hours so if we decide to have another kid, we need to plan it around the Oscars.” Tim laughed. They hadn’t discussed more children and in fact this one was coming along sooner than they had planned but they were happy. Their son would be here in less than a month and thankfully this time, Chloe would be home and not in another country while she was getting adjusted. “At least you won’t be in Russia while you’re trying to get used to having two kids. Your part in the film is done save for maybe a few pick up shots which will be easy to do.” “My seat filler would be on camera more than me.” Chloe agreed as she reached for another handful of popcorn, not to mention lately she didn’t want to wear anything but sweats and huge shirts. The idea of finding a dress had been terrifying. “It will be easier.” She agreed. “Well not easier because...two kids sounds daunting, but at least i’m home for the adjustment.” “And you’ll have both of our mothers here, he pointed out. “Also Windy is just down the hill, she’d be happy to help you out. Jade loves playing with Lizzy, that would at least distract her for a bit if you were needing to do something with the baby.” Tim was trying not to worry about Chloe but he didn’t want her to go through the depression that she had gone through the last time. Hopefully being at home and having more people to help would be good for her. “It’ll be ok Tim.” Chloe looked over at him with a warm smile as she reached for his hand and gave it a squeeze. he was being so sweet, had been throughout the pregnancy, and she knew he was worried about how she was going to deal with the new baby since it had not been easy for her at all when they had, had Lizzy. “I know what to expect now, to an extent. “ She reminded him. “I also know that it’s ok to ask for help this time.” “Yes it is and I hope you do because I’ll be busy with post production and editing and all that,” he leaned over and kissed her. “But I will still have time to spoil my wife and new son and Lizzy who I’m sure will insist on being right in the middle of things.” He glanced fondly at his daughter who was playing with some blocks. “I can’t believe she’s almost two.” “I can’t believe she’s almost two and is so much like me already.” Chloe looked over at Lizzy and shook her head. She is going to be in the middle of everything, and be the bossiest big sister…” She shook her head with a laugh. “And be adorable while doing it. “ “She is so much like you,” Tim laughed. “It’s ridiculous. Your mom says it’s like watching you all over again. I wonder if that means he’d going to be like me?” He looked over at Chloe. “Or maybe a combination of both of us. One thing is for sure, it won’t be boring. We might have our work cut out for us.” “Oh we definitely have our work cut out for us.” Chloe laughed as she thought about it. “It’s a good thing we like challenges.” “True. If we didn’t like challenges we wouldn’t even be together,” he grinned at her. “I was quite a challenge, I don’t mind admitting that. I completely misjudged you….but I’m very glad I did.” Tim had assumed Chloe was a diva Hollywood actress but he had been wrong. The truth was that she was a beautiful person both inside and out and their differences were just enough that they worked perfectly together.” “I’m pretty glad you did too.” Chloe grinned at that memory. She loved Tim, loved him more than she ever thought possible. She had misjudged him too when they had first met and it was amusing now to look back on those times. “I wonder how many people that knew us were taking bets on whether or not we’d stay together. Other than Steven I mean,” Tim laughed. His younger brother had always given him a hard time but Tim didn’t mind. He kept telling Steven that one day he’d find someone and fall head over heels and for a time, Tim had been sure that had happened but in the end they’d broken up and so far, Steven hadn’t seemed interested in anyone else. “It’s probably a good thing we don’t know the answer to that.” Chloe mused as she reached for another handful of popcorn. “Because I have always thought that we are pretty perfect together. “ “We are pretty perfect together. I will not deny that.” He looked around the room, taking it in and smiling as Lizzy toddled over and held up her arms to be picked up.”and this little girl is definitely the cutest baby on the planet, at least until her brother is born and then she’ll be the cutest big sister on the planet.” He gave her a noisy cheek kiss and reached for the bowl on her mother’s tummy. “Whoa kid, I don’t think you’re ready for popcorn yet,” Tim laughed. “You might need a few more teeth.” “She is pretty cute.” Chloe agreed as she moved the bowl out of Lizzy’s reach. “Aww and she’s so my kid, reaching right for the junk food.” She grinned as she said that. “I’m so proud right now. “ “I just bet you are” Tim laughed. “All that healthy food you wanted when you were pregnant but it seems not to have rubbed off on her at all.” “She got her fill while she was in the womb.” Chloe joked while reaching for Lizzie once she moved the bowl, and smiling as the toddler cuddle up with her for a rare moment. “Now she’s a junk food loving monster, just like her mommy.” “That she is and I love both of you and your junk food loving selves,” he kissed Lizzy on the head and then smiled at Chloe. “You know, we’ve got a pretty damn good life, don’t we?” It wasn’t perfect, nothing was but they were happy, they had both worked hard to get where they were and they had support from an amazing network of friends and families. “I never thought I’d get this lucky.” |
