A week later.
Aidan had never been so bored in his entire life.
It had been about a week since Helix snuck in to his room at the hospital and for one reason or another the two hadn't met since - perhaps it was because of the added security to the corridor or that Festival seemed to hang around more than he had in the beginning but whatever it was Aidan didn't blame the Omwati for laying low. It was probably too risky to be out in public all too often even for a ninja like Helix and although he still didn't really know what was going on in the outside world he did manage to catch some of the news buzzing about. About Jethro's killer still being at large ever since he escaped from custody and so he didn't think too much on Helix not being around.
He wanted to see him though. Not just because they still had a lot to straighten out but also because… it wasn't the same without him. Even during the first couple of days when he was half-awake at best and constantly in a chemical haze it didn't feel right to not have the others presence in the room, especially after they'd lived together in such close quarters for so long. So when he finally got out of the hospital and Festival wheeled him back to the old hide out he really, really hoped Helix would still be around… that he'd figure out where he was and find a way to see him. There was no doubt that he would but Aidan still couldn't help but worry that he'd been forced to leave town or something similar, or that they'd be unable to contact each other until much much later but for the time being he couldn't do much but sit around and wait.
Actually, that was a very accurate description of how he spent his time right now. With his ribs still broken and cracked he couldn't even handle crutches so to his own great displeasure he was stuck in a wheelchair for now, just barely able to handle himself to and from the bathroom or into bed at night. The first couple of days Festival stuck around to make sure that the kid could handle being alone and by the third day Aidan insisted that he wouldn't fall to his death if the bar owner snuck out to work or deal with his own life for the afternoon. Not that it made matters any better, he was still bored and ALONE but maybe, just maybe… if Helix was keeping an eye on him this could become the opening he was waiting for.
So for now he waited, bored out of his mind and aimlessly trying to occupy himself with a book without ever actually reading a word on the page. This blows. So much.
