The last few days had gone by in a haze. Most of the time he'd been asleep, barely aware of what was going on outside in the real world save for whatever Festival decided to tell him and that wasn't much at all. The drugs and bloodloss kept him docile and when it came down to it he didn't really want to be awake right now anyway. Being awake meant remembering and thinking and twisting and turning and just once, just for a little longer... he didn't want to remember a thing.
Aidan didn't notice when Helix slipped into the room or the soft scrape of a chair being pulled across the floor. The boy's voice did reach down into his subconscious, coloring his dreamless sleep but he still didn't stir, not even when Helix moved his still-sore arm or let his head drop onto his chest. There was something, a feeling or sensation but he was too deep in his sleep to register it as anything but a memory and so he didn't wake up until some time after Helix had passed out on him.
The weight on his chest was the first thing he noticed, strangely familiar and not as uncomfortable as it should be. He came around slowly, shifting slightly under Helix and eventually cracking his eyes open to see just what was going on. The sleeping form caught him by surprise, heart skipping a beat as the contradicting emotions washed through his system. The days in the hospital hadn't made anything any clearer and his last blurry memories before everything went dark in that fight ring only added to the confusion. He remembered Helix's voice, his warmth, his scent so close that it drowned out the metallic stench of blood... it muddled up what he thought he knew, threw everything back into complete uncertainty.
Not sure what to do or even how to feel Aidan pulled his hand free, wincing some as the sore muscles protested at the movement. There was a glint of metal and for a brief moment he couldn't place it, eyes widening slightly as he recognized it for what it was: a ring. The ring and with the way Helix was positioned it was easy to see that the boy had reclaimed the mate to it. Aidan frowned some, brows furrowed in confusion as he moved his hand to brush the fingertips over Helix's forehead in an attempt to wake him up. They had things to straighten out.
