The Final Night -----> Helix
Helix was doing some wigging out of his own. He'd been doing well so far, keeping a straight face and calm, uncaring air around Aiden, making it look like he was completely composed. Why wouldn't he be if he had everything figured out? If he was as confident with his plan as he'd made himself seem.
But in truth, he was upset with himself, with the situation, with having to make the decision he had. He honestly was trying to find a way that they could do this thing together, but in the end he just couldn't wrap his mind around a better solution. Every angle, every outcome he could think of was too much of a risk. In the end, his best bet was to separate them.
Which meant he had to betray Aiden. He had to break their promise and he knew it.
But as the day ended, the night drew in on him and it felt like it was crushing him. The pressure of the impending mission was almost too much to bear and he was certain he'd crack sooner or later. He just had to keep it together, there was no avoiding Aiden now, it would look too suspicious.
But he'd be lying if he didn't damn near jump out of his skin when the other said his name. He looked up from the maps and everything, appearing to be going over their plan and memorizing every move. He'd be the one leading and directing the other man after all... he had to get everything to a T, there couldn't be any missteps or mistakes. Even if he wasn't honestly doing anything but ACTING.
He looked up with a curious, "Yeah?" It seemed like he wanted to talk or something... the air was kind of thick. But it could just be his imagination and the fact his heart was beating a mile a minute for no real reason. He was in serious trouble if he was freaking out just being near Aiden. Or it could just be the remnants of his silent, strangling worry that had been floating through his head and chest before the other man came over to join him.
