It may not have been a big deal for Madison that she had accidentally burnt her tongue, but the gentlemanly thing to do was for Landon to do something about it. He was going to just sit there and see her in a bit of a pain. The ice cold water might not been much, but it was still something.
"Just this time or for the succeeding ones too?" He grinned wider, interested what she had to say. He was mostly just teasing her and wouldn't take advantage of her offering free weed. He still had some smidgen of decency and would eventually pay her back at some point in some form. She probably preferred money than in kind. "I'm kidding, I'm sorry. Bad joke." He said, waving a hand in the process but still amused.
When her foot brushed against his leg, it didn't go unnoticed. He sucked in a bit of his breath and swallowed hard, suddenly feeling himself get goosebumps. It was a surprise how even after a number of years, she was still able to leave an effect on him. Maybe it was because it still haunted him as it was sort of unfinished business. They, or at least Landon, didn't really get any closure on that chapter of his life.
"No, come on. You've always been interesting to me. I mean, I didn't really exactly notice you, and I'm still very much sorry for that, but.. you know, you blew me off my feet once I got to know you.. even it was the most umm.. unconventional way." Landon smiled sheepishly, his gaze shifting to the side. So they've finally reached that topic and there was no turning back now. That is unless Madison decided not to talk about it any further.
