She snorted again at his reaction to the top, if one could even call it that, and quickly untied it so that she could toss it haphazardly into the large pile that she had grabbed it from. She turned her attention towards more interesting things, using her fingertips to touch some of the clothing, liking the feel of the fabric. Everything was so light, and soft – made for the heat and sunshine.
While he was in the ‘bathroom’, Ophelia leaned against one of the pillars of the shop, finishing off her beer and reapplying some of that cherry lip balm since some of it had come off along the edge of the cup while she was drinking. She disposed of the empty container, rolled her lips together, and waited for Max to come back out to her. When he handed her the box, her brows lifted with surprise. “You got me something?” It was a stupid, rhetorical question, since he obviously had, but she really wasn’t expecting anything. “It isn’t one of those bathing suits, is it? God knows they could fit in a box this small.” She joked, working on opening it. When she saw the jewelry inside, she ran her fingers over the smooth shell that was embedded in the silver, appreciating it for a few moments before her attention was back on him. “It’s beautiful. I love it.” She leaned up to give him an appreciative kiss, removing the jewelry from the box before she had him help her put it on. It clashed with the gold tones of the other jewelry she was wearing, but she didn’t care – she wanted to show it off, and not keep it hidden within her bag.
She kept her hand in his, taking in their surroundings before he stopped her abruptly, causing her to squeak again as he tugged her in closer to him beneath the awning. She smiled against his lips before succumbing to the kiss, her fingers lacing with his as her other arm snaked around his neck, standing on her toes to get better leverage. When he pulled away from her, her lashes fluttered open. His words made her smile, and she gave him another cherry-flavored kiss for good measure.
“Happy anniversary.” She repeated back to him, not remembering the last time she had an anniversary with anyone. There had been one month celebrations, sometimes even 2, but a year was definitely an accomplishment.
