"...Ah." Eli was quiet, for a moment, studying the girl in front of him. Toxicity, then. She'd experienced something in her life, maybe something awful.
"Hey, sugar. Look, you wanna go to the water? I'll take you. We can probably get to the docks if we're careful, yeah? Wouldn' be too hard, with th' walkers fadin' out due to lack of food. Could get out to sea, though might be best to find a boat that had paddles and engines both. Y'know, for when fuel runs out."
Eli wanted to touch the girl's shoulder, reassure her; that nervous, uncertain glance broke a heart he thought had been hardened by the deaths of everyone he knew. A hand lifted halfway, then dropped again, and he sighed.
"We can leave in the morning, yeah? Too late to start off now, we could get trapped outside in the dark, and that's not nothin' I wanna deal with."
