It was impossible to ignore the energy of the crowd as they filed into the Cabaret Lounge, all of them chattering excitedly as they prepared for the big event of the night. Some of them had been waiting outside the doors as soon as they placed their luggage into their cabin, just so they could get a spot closer to the four celebrities who would be sitting behind the long table that had been set up for them. They all came from the popular cable network series Beneath the Veil, a somewhat controversial drama that had first aired 3 years ago. The controversy came from the fact that there were a lot of biblical references made throughout the series, including but not limited to one of the main characters (and one of the fan favorites) being the devil himself.
The show is centered around a 20-year-old man named Aaron Jencyn, who grew up never knowing his parents. He lived instead with his mother’s cousin, Frank, who had taken him in when he was a child and had given him his name. During the first season it was revealed that Aaron wasn’t quite… normal, and it is later revealed that he is the product of a woman named Abigail McCarren, and a mysterious man who went only by the name ‘Hale’. It would be discovered by the end of the first season that ‘Hale’ was really a shortened version of ‘Heylel’, which was another name for Lucifer in the Old Testament, therefore making Aaron the ‘antichrist’.
Throughout season one the audience is exposed to different supernatural elements such as werewolves and vampires, in addition to other mythological creatures who otherwise don’t get very much attention in the media. For example, season two introduces a siren by the name of Sadie, who befriends the half-demon Helena, who appeared quite frequently throughout the show, portrayed by the late Nona Garrett. Sadie’s fate at the end of season two left people sitting on the edge of their seat, making them wait until season three to discover what had happened to her. The show took various twists and turns, with Aaron coming to terms with what he is, discovering that Frank has known all along, and deciding whether he is going to become the right hand man that Lucifer wants him to be, or if he is going to choose his own path.
Once everyone was seated, the intense music that played throughout the credits swelled out from the sound system, and the man who was set to announce the special guests stepped out onto the stage. In the background, the actors prepared to face their adoring fans, and prepare themselves for whatever questions they might be asked – whether it be about their character development, their favorite moments on the show, or where they’d like to see the show go. There really weren’t many things the crowd couldn’t ask them.
One by one they began to take their places, with Dakota Davenport and Ian Kingsley coming in last to make the biggest impact. The crowd screamed for their favorites, and once the excitement died down a little, they had people line up behind the microphones.
“Don’t be shy, ladies and gentleman! What do you want to know?”
