WHO: Dakota & Ian WHEN: Friday, May 31st, 6:30 PM WHERE: backstage at Cabaret Lounge WHAT: running into old costars before the BtV Q&A WARNING: None yet but I will update as necessary
The backstage area of the Caberet Lounge wasn't so bad. Saint had seen to it that all of Dakota's demands had been met and her dressing room had been stocked full of the usual Dasanis, Vitamin Water Zeroes, sugar free gummy bears and champagne. She had only stayed in her dressing room long enough for Saint to fuss over her, applying lipstick and blush and eyeliner masterfully. People could say whatever they wanted but Saint was a fucking genius when it came to makeup. She also had fantastic taste and had picked out the adorable Fendi pumps that Dakota was currently wearing. The dress had been picked out by Dakota herself. It was a bright cherry red A line bandage dress that matched her lipstick perfectly. The push up bra was helping it to look like Dakota had cleavage that wasn't actually there. It was a miracle what bras could do for a girl these days.
That was partly why Dakota didn't understand why all of her acting friends were running off to get boob jobs. Who were they trying to impress? Dakota didn't have a single complaint from any man or woman who had ever seen her naked and to the general public? There was the miracle of bras. She had already been blessed with a perfectly adorable face so there was no need to have any work done. All she had to do was follow her very strict diet to a T and there would be no problem. That was one thing that set Dakota apart from some of her fellow performers. Despite her high energy performances, Dakota just wasn't shaped like her stick thin counterparts. She had to constantly work to stay a perfect size two. She knew the older she got, the harder it would be and it plagued Dakota. She saw bulged in the mirror that nobody else saw. It was like looking into the future.
One glass of champagne in the green room had her relaxed and happy and ready to deal with her adoring fans. Sadie's role had been short on Beneath the Veil so far but she had been pivotal to the storyline and a fan favorite. Next season she would be reprising her role as Sadie and that bit of news had been leaked expertly a couple of days before cruise tickets went on sale by a combination of Beneath the Veil's and Dakota's PR team. Dakota still didn't even have all the details on what would happen to Sadie this upcoming season but the cliffhanger that her character had been left on was sure to drive fans crazy. Dakota had been given just enough information to tease them about the season that was filming now.
She should have been exhausted. She was still touring for her album that had been released nine months ago and playing Sadie on Beneath the Veil when she could squeeze it into her schedule. She was also constantly writing new music on the go, recording lyrics onto her iPhone as they came to her. Yes, she should have been exhausted but she wasn't. This was the life she was born into and unlike her lazy ass brothers she was actually thriving in it. Sometimes a star was just born and that was how it was for Dakota Davenport.
She had just finished her glass of champagne when the man, the myth, the legend walked in. Her dark eyes unconsciously gave him the once over and yep, he was every bit as good looking as she remembered. There was something different about his eyes though, something haunted and dark beneath those bright blues. Losing his wife that way, it was such a shame. The poor thing, Dakota couldn't help but think.
Instead she smiled at him as brightly as she could manage and stood up to give him a hug. "It's been too long," she said as she pulled away. "How are you?" Her eyes conveyed sincere sympathy effectively but she wasn't really interested in being bummed out by Ian's dead wife.
