Charles Iscariot, Months Prior
"You want me to go with you?" The man held the phone in the crook of one shoulder, his hands busy as he shelved a series of books that had been sitting on his desk since this afternoon. His eyes wandered the slightly vacant bookcase, having to go over the book in his hand and the various openings a few times as he listened to the voice on the other end babble on excitedly. The proper spot was found shortly after, and he placed the old tome into it with a gentle hand before replying to a break in the conversation.
"No, no that's quite all right. I would be happy to join you." Sliding another book into place, the man pushed his glasses up further - they had slid too far again while he was organizing. "When did you say this trip was? Later this spring?" He cracked a slight smile as the voice on the other end resumed its excited chattering, placing each of the books on the shelf more confidently now. Now that he was assured that all of the details were in the far more capable hands of a member of his flock, the preacher could set his mind at ease.
He would just have to arrange for Dre to take care of things while he was gone - the other man may be an insufferable flirt and terrible at maintaining (or at least pretending to maintain) his vow of chastity, but the small chapel was safe in his hands. Even if the local's daughters and sons weren't.
