WHO: Ethan WHEN: January 15th, Late Night WHERE: Ethan’s house WHAT: Ethan finds out about Jenny going missing and Chase dying and Adelaide. It gets a little better after he takes the bottle of pills. WARNING: Suicide
He'd put two and two together. Jenny was missing. He’d figured that out when he’d gotten the text message. His stomach had sank then. Especially since he’d not had a whisper from Adelaide. She was simply gone. If she’d failed, she’d still be here, he reasoned. Finding out that Chase was dead? Visiting Belli? The old man had added it all together.
Jenny was missing. Chase was dead. Adelaide had destroyed them both.
He’d been tricked by her, but the pale temptress that had come to him at night, promised to love him, to be with him, when no one else could or would or wanted to, and he’d needed that. He’d needed that like his pills. Belli had promised that Adelaide wanted to see him again, but he couldn't bear it.
He would see the blood on her hands. On his own.
He stared at the orange bottle in his hand and shook it, hearing the pills rattle. There were enough to do what he needed. He grabbed a pen and wrote out two notes, one for his parents, one for Jon.
The first was short, easy. I’m sorry for being a disappointment. I love you. Please don’t blame yourself.
The second, not so much, though it was shorter. He didn't know what to say. I’m so sorry, Jon.
He didn't want people thinking that he was crazy when they found him. It would be easier this way. He couldn't help but think of Chase, of Jenny back in school, and the guilt coiled in his gut like a leaden snake. Grabbing a bottle of water, he started to down the pills, the bitter pellets swallowed back easily.
