"Oh, no, the dress was... is..."
Perfect. Divine. Unfathomable. Made for her.
"...it's fine," he said lamely, offering his usual broad smile. That smile had won him elections and secured the popular opinion of this town for years even before he was Mayor, but it still looked so natural on his face. This time though, it didn't quite reach his eyes; there was some apprehension deep beneath, a worry that crinkled the corners of his eyes.
"I'm not.. entirely sure what I'm looking for," Ben said honestly, shaking his head. "The dress was wonderful, but... it got her a bit more attention than I was expecting at the holiday party we attended. The men in the room were acting a bit... untoward when they saw her in it." He offered a faint, unconvincing laugh as though it was some silly little thing. "Nona's always been beautiful but I guess that was the first time it really hit me how quickly she's grown." And how filthy all of the men in this town are when it comes to her.
