WHO: Kessie and Marcus WHAT: Marcus picks up his crazy cousin. WHERE: Marcus's apartment WHEN: Evening, November 1st/Possibly November 2nd RATING: Unknown, but there's Marcus, so probably language :D
When Kesiah had first seen Marcus pull up, she'd been practically beside herself with gratitude. Her first instinct had been to fling her arms around him, give him a hug; when her cousin had exited his truck, however, she'd thought better of the decision.
Jesus, he was huge. She'd forgotten. It had been years since they'd last seen each other. She wasn't a tiny woman, but she felt dwarfed in his presence.
"T-thank you. I know...I know you probably think I'm a fucking lunatic. Thank you for coming anyways." Everything she wanted to take with her was in a duffel bag and a briefcase at her feet. Paperwork, notebooks full of scraps and tangents, her clothes, her books. Some papers she hadn't gone through yet. Carton of cigarettes. Bottle of whiskey.
At first, she'd chattered nervously about the forest in Tahoe, the beautiful trees, how she'd been pretty sure she'd seen a bear--a fucking bear, Marcus, it was wild--but not what she was looking for. She'd heard rumors of lights in the forest, strange voices, she'd hoped to find something linking those events to the ones when she was a teenager...but then she'd turned into a fucking lizard and, well, that ended that.
When it was clear that Marcus wasn't really the "chatting" sort, Kesiah's voice eventually trailed off into silence; she clutched her briefcase to her chest and watched the sun sinking in the sky. Hopefully, they got to wherever they were going before she changed. Before the moon rose.
Like fucking Swan Princess. Except for instead of turning into a beautiful maiden, she turned into a goddamn lizard.
